Research and Curation

As the sole federally approved archaeological curation facility in Missouri, the Museum Support Center is a major research center for the study of American archaeology. The Center serves as the repository for the majority of archaeological material produced from the myriad of research and educational projects and federally mandated cultural resource management projects conducted in the state. See Archaeological Curation for more information.

The Archaeological Survey of Missouri was a joint activity of the Missouri Archaeological Society and the University of Missouri-Columbia that maintained files on all prehistoric and historical-period sites reported in Missouri. The files are available on a controlled basis for persons, organizations, or companies involved in research.

The Museum's ethnographic and historical collections, library and archival materials, and the Grayson Archery Collection are also housed and made available to researchers at the Museum Support Center's facilities.
